Sunshine Coast Minibus Hire, from Noosa to the Hinterland

The Sunshine Coast runs from Caloundra up to Noosa, with the Glass House Mountains and the Blackall Range behind. Distances are short, but parking at the popular spots runs out early, and that's where a driver who drops you at the door earns their keep.

Zoo day, market day

Australia Zoo at Beerwah is about 35 km from Maroochydore, half an hour from the airport end of the coast, and open every day from 9am to 5pm. Parking is free but gets busy on weekends and in school holidays, so a weekday visit tends to be calmer.

The Original Eumundi Markets run every Wednesday and Saturday from 7.30am to 2pm, and parking nearby is limited. That makes them a natural fit for a minibus: you're set down, you browse, and you're collected with your bags of produce. It's about half an hour from Maroochydore, or 15 minutes from Noosa Heads.

Noosa without the parking hunt

Noosa Heads is 35 to 40 minutes north. In the holidays, the Park Road car park for the national park can fill before 8am, and Hastings Street is often no better. Being dropped at the start of the coastal walk and met in town afterwards saves a lot of circling.

Planning a guided bushwalk while you're here? In Queensland's national parks the guiding needs a commercial activity permit held by the tour operator. Transport on its own is treated differently, so be clear from the start about who is doing the guiding.

Up into the hinterland

Montville and Maleny sit on the Blackall Range about 45 minutes from the beach, with views across the Glass House Mountains. The range roads are narrow and winding, which suits a minibus or people mover better than a big coach, and the route is checked with the operator for anything larger.

Flights and arrivals

Flights land at Marcoola, just 12 to 15 minutes from Maroochydore (about 11 km to Ocean Street). Pre-booked transfers pull into their own zone on Friendship Avenue, right outside the terminal doors, but there's no coach staging area, and vehicles can't be left unattended at the kerb.

Flying into Brisbane? The 105 to 110 km north to the coast takes roughly 1.25 to 1.5 hours.

Can a minibus get up to Montville?

Usually, yes. The hinterland roads are narrow and twisty, so smaller vehicles are the better choice, and the operator checks the route before confirming.

Where do conferences and big functions happen here?

At Twin Waters, five minutes or so from the airport, the Sunshine Coast Convention Centre takes anything from a small meeting to a big conference, and The Events Centre in Caloundra has the Kings Theatre, seating up to 815. Both are an easy transfer from the main hotel areas.
