Canberra Airport arrivals: a minibus for the national capital
Canberra Airport is compact, one terminal about 8.5 km from Civic, and most groups arriving here have a plan: a family museum trip, a winery wedding or a run down to the snow. A minibus or people mover with a driver handles all three.
No marked coach bay, so here's the plan
Canberra Airport doesn't publish a pick-up point or waiting area for coaches and charters. You'll come out into Arrivals at ground level, where the public buses pull up outside. Before the day, you and the operator settle on exactly where to meet, so nobody is guessing once the bags are collected.
Going home is simpler: you're set down upstairs, right next to Departures and airline check-in.

Museums, galleries and Anzac Parade
Civic is 12 to 15 minutes' drive when traffic is light, and the ACT is toll-free. For families, the national institutions are the draw: Questacon, the National Museum on Acton Peninsula, and the Australian War Memorial at the head of Anzac Parade.
The War Memorial has only limited bus and coach parking on Treloar Crescent, so it's easier to agree a drop-off and a pickup time than have the vehicle wait. Floriade, the city's spring flower festival in Commonwealth Park, makes a gentle half-day with grandparents along.

Good to know at Canberra Airport
- The airport lists shuttle transfers from Canberra Airport to the Snowy Mountains (Thredbo, Perisher and Jindabyne) among its transport options.
- Transport Canberra's Rapid 3 bus runs from the terminal to the City interchange every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes at weekends.
- An Express Pick-Up Lounge on the ground floor of an indoor car park is a 20-metre covered walk from the Arrivals Hall.
- Passengers are dropped off on the upper roadway beside the Departures Hall and airline check-in.
Cellar doors and the snow
Murrumbateman's cellar doors sit about 35 minutes out of the city, an easy fit for a wedding weekend or a birthday tasting day.
Heading to Thredbo, Perisher or Jindabyne? Allow roughly two and a quarter to two and three-quarter hours. Between the June and October long weekends, two-wheel-drive vehicles in Kosciuszko National Park must carry snow chains on the main roads up, so tell us your dates and resort when you book.
Your questions
Can a friend collect part of our group by car?
Yes. There are free pick-up bays for private cars, with a 10-minute limit, out in the RED car park, a couple of minutes on foot from the arrivals hall.
Is Sydney Airport a sensible alternative?
Some groups fly into Sydney for better connections, but it's about 290 km away, roughly three hours by road. For a short stay, flying into Canberra saves a long drive each way.
Can the minibus stay with us for a whole wedding day?
Yes, a vehicle can be booked for the full day: airport pickup, ceremony, reception and the ride back to the hotel. Send the running sheet and venue addresses when you ask for a quote.
