Sunshine Coast Airport: minibus pickups to Noosa and beyond

Sunshine Coast Airport at Marcoola has a single terminal, and the coast's best-loved spots are all within the hour. A driven minibus or people mover brings your group from arrivals to Noosa, Mooloolaba or a hinterland wedding without anyone circling for a park.

The Private Transfers zone

Right in front of the terminal on Friendship Avenue, the airport marks out a Private Transfers zone, next to the shuttle bus stop, the taxi rank and the ordinary pick-up and drop-off kerb. That's where a booked minibus or people mover meets you.

There's no published coach waiting area and the kerb is for immediate stops only, so the driver arrives to match your landing. Keep the group together inside until the vehicle is in place.

Where the group is staying

Ocean Street in Maroochydore is about 11 km away, 12 to 15 minutes. Twin Waters and Marcoola are right by the airport, and Noosa Heads is around 35 to 40 minutes from Maroochydore.

Noosa is where parking gets tight. At busy times Hastings Street and Noosa Parade are full, and the national park car park at the end of Park Road can fill before 8 am in the holidays, exactly when being dropped at the door beats hunting for a space.

Good to know at Sunshine Coast Airport

  • The public transport bus stop is on the terminal loop road beside the Covered car park, a short walk from the terminal.
  • Short Term parking is free for up to 10 minutes and Long Term for up to 1 hour.
  • Vehicles must not be left unattended in the pick-up/drop-off zone for aviation security reasons; unattended or overstaying vehicles are fined or towed.

Markets, the zoo and the range

Eumundi's markets are on every Wednesday and Saturday, 7.30 am to 2 pm, and parking there is limited. Australia Zoo at Beerwah is about half an hour from the airport area.

Up on the Blackall Range, Montville and Maleny sit on narrow, winding roads about 45 minutes away. Full-size coaches need the route checked with the operator first, one more reason a smaller vehicle makes sense up there.

Your questions

Should we fly into Brisbane instead?

Only if the flights suit you much better. Brisbane Airport is some 105 to 110 km south of here, an hour and a quarter to an hour and a half by road, against a quarter of an hour into Maroochydore.

Can we stop at Eumundi on the way to Noosa?

On a Wednesday or Saturday morning, yes. The markets are about half an hour from Maroochydore and a quarter of an hour from Noosa Heads, so they slot neatly between the airport and a Noosa hotel.

We have 30 guests. What should we book?

Thirty is more than a minibus's 16 to 19 seats. A midi coach seats 29 to 35, or two smaller vehicles can split the group, handy if guests are staying in both Noosa and Mooloolaba.
