Brisbane Airport group pickups, from people movers to coaches
Brisbane Airport is the front door to the city, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast all at once. Whether your group is bound for a hinterland wedding or a weekend of State of Origin, a minibus with a driver keeps everyone and every suitcase together.
At the Domestic Terminal
At the Domestic Terminal, look for the Bus and Coach area facing the multi-level car park. Only vehicles with five or more passengers aboard may use it, so a people mover carrying a family of five or more qualifies, and you're well away from the crush of private cars.
While you're still in the air, your driver can sit in the airport's Central Parking Area, off Nancy Bird Way, watching the flight boards, then come round when your plane and bags are in.

International arrivals and split flights
International passengers are collected from the shared pick-up area on the southern side of that terminal, reached from the Level 2 arrivals road. If part of your group lands at International and part at Domestic, the free Terminal Transfer Bus and Airtrain both join the two, so one pickup at one terminal is usually the easiest plan.

Good to know at Brisbane Airport
- Airtrain reaches Brisbane City in about 20 minutes and continues to the Gold Coast.
- The Domestic and International Terminals are separate buildings; a free Terminal Transfer Bus runs about every 10 minutes (about 5 minutes' travel) and Airtrain also links them.
- Simply stopping in a bus zone or a 'No Stopping' zone is an offence; infringement notices are issued under the Commonwealth Airports (Control of On-Airport Activities) Regulations.
- The pre-booked loading zones are controlled by an electronic tag and boom gate on entry and exit, and time spent inside is charged by vehicle class.
- Only vehicles listed on a Brisbane Airport Ground Transport Operator (GTO) licence may pick up pre-booked passengers at the terminals; applicants must hold a valid Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads operator accreditation number.
Which way are you heading?
Brisbane City Hall is about 16 km away, around 20 minutes outside peak periods, taking either AirportlinkM7, which is tolled, or the Gateway Motorway. Queensland's toll roads are cashless, so there's no stopping to pay.
Plenty of groups never stop in the city. It's around 85 km down to Surfers Paradise, so allow an hour or more; Australia Zoo at Beerwah is roughly an hour north, and the Sunshine Coast Airport area 75 to 90 minutes away. Queensland doesn't use daylight saving, which is worth remembering if you've flown up from the southern states in summer.
Tell us about the extras
Surfboards, prams, a wheelchair, a wedding dress that has to lie flat: mention anything unusual when you book. Wheelchair needs especially should go to the operator in advance so a suitable vehicle can be found.
Your questions
Can a minibus just pull into a bus zone to grab us?
No. Only vehicles on the airport's operator licence may enter the pre-booked loading zones, through a tagged boom gate, and simply stopping in a bus zone can bring an infringement notice. That's why the pickup is arranged ahead of time.
How far is it to the Gold Coast?
Surfers Paradise is roughly 85 km from the airport, so plan on at least an hour in the vehicle. If your whole stay is on the Gold Coast, flying into Gold Coast Airport may save you the drive.
What if our flight is delayed?
The operator follows the flight number on your booking, and licensed vehicles can wait in the Central Parking Area until you arrive. If you learn of a long delay before boarding, let us know the new time.
