Blue Mountains Minibus Hire, from Sydney or Katoomba
Katoomba and the upper Blue Mountains are about 100 km from Sydney, around an hour and a half by road, and a favourite day out for families and visiting friends. A minibus and driver takes care of the climb and the parking, so everyone can enjoy the lookouts.
Echo Point and the Three Sisters
Echo Point is about 2 km south of Katoomba's town centre, with a council visitor centre open daily from 9am to 4pm. Cameras watch the roundabout there, and buses can't set passengers down in it, so the stop and the parking are agreed before you arrive.
Katoomba, Leura, Wentworth Falls and Blackheath all have visitor pay parking, card-only at the meters, with regulated bus zones. The council is also working on a visitor bus plan that may bring a booking system and set coach routes, so the rules for bigger vehicles can change from one season to the next.

Scenic World and the cliff walks
Scenic World on Violet Street is home to the Scenic Railway, Skyway and Cableway. The attraction's own parking is a multi-storey with a 2 m clearance, which no coach fits under, so set-down on Violet Street is planned with Scenic World.
The Prince Henry Cliff Walk and the Grand Cliff Top Walk follow the cliff edge between Katoomba, Leura and Wentworth Falls. It's made for a drop-off at one end and a pickup at the other, so nobody has to walk back.

Beyond Katoomba
Leura is five to ten minutes away, Wentworth Falls about 15 and Blackheath, for Govetts Leap, about 20. For groups crossing the range, Bathurst lies about 100 km further west.
Jenolan Caves stays shut until repairs to the road in are finished, and the plan is to reopen in early 2027, so it's not on the list for now.
From the airport and back
From Sydney Airport it's about 110 km, which usually means 90 minutes to two hours. The new Western Sydney International, due to open to passengers in late October 2026, will be nearer, at about 70 km. West of Parramatta the M4 costs nothing; its toll section runs from Parramatta to Haberfield.
Roads and walking tracks can close for bushfire danger or storms, so look at the alerts from NSW National Parks, and at Live Traffic NSW, before you head up.
Your questions
Can the minibus stop right at Echo Point?
Not in the roundabout, which is camera-enforced. The set-down point and parking are sorted out before you get there.
Is the Blue Mountains a good day trip from Sydney?
Yes. About an hour and a half each way leaves plenty of time for Echo Point, a cliff walk and lunch in Leura.
Are there venues for a wedding or retreat in the mountains?
Several historic hotels host events, including the Hydro Majestic at Medlow Bath, the Carrington in Katoomba and the Fairmont Resort at Leura. A minibus shuttle between the venue and your guests' accommodation keeps everyone together.
