Adelaide Minibus Hire for Barossa, McLaren Vale and the Hills
Few Australian cities have wine country this close. You can be at a McLaren Vale cellar door about 45 minutes after leaving the city, or in the Barossa in around an hour, which makes Adelaide one of the easiest places to plan a winery day for friends or family.
Choosing your wine region
McLaren Vale is about 40 km from the city. The Barossa, with Tanunda at its centre, is roughly 70 km away. The Clare Valley is further at an hour and three quarters, better for a group that wants a full, unhurried day.
Whichever you choose, three or four stops with a booked lunch in the middle is a comfortable pace. Settle on a finishing time with your driver at the start of the day.

Up to the Adelaide Hills
Hahndorf, the German-heritage village, is only about 30 minutes up the South Eastern Freeway, with Cleland Wildlife Park and Mount Lofty nearby. Coming back down, bus drivers have to select a low gear from Crafers, hold their speed to no more than 60 km/h and keep left with no overtaking until they reach the Measday Bridge. It makes for a gentle descent, with plenty of time to enjoy the views.

Kangaroo Island and the south coast
Victor Harbor is about an hour and a quarter away. For Kangaroo Island, allow around two hours to reach the ferry at Cape Jervis, then 45 minutes across to Penneshaw. Very few coaches fit on a sailing, so if your vehicle is crossing, book its space well before the rest of the trip.
Airport, Oval and city
Touching down in Adelaide, you're only around 7 km, or 10 to 15 minutes, from Victoria Square, with no tolls anywhere in the state. Larger vehicles collect groups from a dedicated bus and shuttle bay at the far southern end of the pick-up and drop-off area.
For a match or a concert at Adelaide Oval, buses aren't allowed into the Oval's car parks. For major fixtures, the set-down choices are King William Road or Pennington Terrace, so pick one before match day.
Your questions
Barossa or McLaren Vale for our group?
McLaren Vale is closer, which suits a half day or a late start. The Barossa is a little further and suits a full day of cellar doors.
Can the minibus come to Kangaroo Island with us?
It can, if its space on the Cape Jervis ferry is booked well in advance. Otherwise plan to be dropped at the Cape Jervis terminal and collected there when you come back.
How close is the airport to the city?
About 7 km, which is 10 to 15 minutes in light traffic.
Can we hire a minivan in Adelaide instead?
Yes. A people mover is the minivan option: it seats 6 or 7, comes with its own driver just like the minibus, and suits a smaller group's winery day.
