Race Weekend at Albert Park, Sorted for Your Group
Formula 1 is back at Albert Park over four days in April 2027, Thursday the 1st to Sunday the 4th, and the Grand Prix itself is on the Sunday. This time the weekend brings Australia's first F1 Sprint, which gives your group more reason than ever to come for more than one day.
Four days, now with a Sprint
The Sprint has its own qualifying session on Friday 2 April, then the Sprint race runs on Saturday 3 April, so Friday and Saturday bring competitive running too. The 2027 event falls in the Victorian school holidays, and after a record 483,934 people came in 2026, expect a busy city and book early.

Leave the car at home
During the event, Albert Park Circuit offers strictly no public parking, which is the main reason groups travel with a driver. With no published coach set-down rules here either, where your minibus pulls in and waits is for the operator to work out. Taxis rank at six gates (1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 10) and rideshare bays sit at five (1, 2, 3, 8, 10).
For accessibility needs, Gates 1 and 5 are the recommended way in. The nearest Metro Tunnel stop, Anzac Station, is roughly eight minutes on foot from Gate 5.
Trams, trains and flights
Last time round, in 2026, a valid ticket doubled as a free tram and train fare from the city to the circuit, and shuttle trams left from Flinders Street, Southern Cross and Flagstaff stations. For a single day, some of your group may be happy with that. The minibus comes into its own when you're gathering people from the suburbs, a regional town or the airport.
Tullamarine is roughly 29 km away by the organiser's figures, and Avalon roughly 59 km. Flying in on the Thursday? Share your flight numbers so the pickup is timed to your landing; Melbourne Airport runs permit zones where approved buses collect passengers, so your driver will be in the right place.

Can we drive ourselves and park nearby?
No. Public parking at the circuit is ruled out entirely for the four days, so a vehicle with a driver, or public transport, is the way in.
Will trams be free again in 2027?
Free travel was the 2026 arrangement. Check the 2027 ticket conditions before relying on it.
Can we book all four days?
Yes. List the days and roughly when you want to arrive and leave, and allow for a late finish on Sunday.
What about a guest using a wheelchair?
Aim for Gate 1 or Gate 5, the recommended entries for accessibility, and tell us about the need when you enquire so the operator can look for a suitable vehicle.
